Title: Resurrecting Doyle Parts 10-11 Author: Danielle E-Mail: willow-n-oz@webtv.net (Even though I'm no longer an Oz fan) Summary: A Buffy/Angel crossover. Willow does a spell to resurrect Doyle. Disclaimer: All the characters belong to Joss and a bunch of big companies. Spoiler: "Hero" Angel ep. Classification: Willow/Spike, Buffy/Angel, Cordelia/Doyle, a brief Willow/Doyle, Xander/Anya Notes: I was so bitter about Doyle being killed. I decided to write a fic about Willow resurrecting him. :) AnythingWillowFanfic- I'm sorry Willow's not in this part, but I promise she's playing a major part in the future. This is just a neccessity of the story. Feedback: I am begging you! Please! I need to know if you like this. It's one of my darker fics. Well, the beginning is. "I'm so sorry," Giles said after Cordy had told him Doyle's final heroic act. He patted her on the shoulder supportingly. "So, we were wondering if you knew of a way to bring him back?" Angel asked. "I don't know. I could look in my books." "You do that," Cordy said. "I'll just..." Cordy looked around. "I don't know what I'll do." "You'll help me," Giles said getting up from the couch. Cordy made a face. "Oh, fun. Research. Why do I always have to research wherever I go? Angel turns to me in LA and you turn to me here. What's up with the world?!" She got up anyway and walked over to the bookshelf. "I hope you can deal with her. I have a quick errand to run," Angel said and walked out the door. "Where's he going?" Cordy asked with a book in her hand. "I don't know..." Giles said looking a the door even after Angel closed it. ********** Angel walked to the dorm. He walked into Buffy and Willow's room. He walked to Buffy's bed. He leaned down beside her and shook her lightly. She slowly opened her eyes. "Angel?" she whispered. Angel glanced over at Willow who was sound asleep. "Can we go outside? I need to talk to you." Buffy was half awake. "Ok," she agreed and got out of bed. She was fully awake by the time they walked in the hall. She had half a dozen questions for Angel. She started with a simple one. "Why are you back?" "Uh... I need your help," Angel said. "Why does everyone come to me when they need help? They just assume I'll help them. Even you. I never thought this would happen." "What exactly is happening?" Angel asked her. "You have never dropped by just to say 'hi, Buffy. How's it going?' It was obvious you only came to me because you needed me to fight something." "That's not true-" Angel began. "Oh, it's not? Then why haven't you been back until you had nasty evil to fight? And don't start about the whole Thanksgiving thing. That doesn't count because you were spying on me!" "I was looking out for you." "Whatever. The point is you didn't even bother letting me know you were in town." "I just thought it would be easier-" "Is that all you wanted? Wake me up and fight with me?" Buffy asked. "I also came to you because my best friend gave up his life to save a bunch of half demons." Buffy's voice softened. "Was that the friend that had visions?" "How did you-" Angel started. "Giles told me," she paused. "I'm sorry. I know what it's like to lose a close friend." Buffy was referring to Kendra. "How can I help?" "Actually, I just came by to see if you forgave me, but since you asked, get Willow. We need all the help we can get for researching." "You can come on in and wait while me and Willow get ready if you want," Buffy offered. "Ok," Angel said. He followed Buffy into the dorm. ******* Cordelia closed the fifth book she had read. "There's nothing!" she laid her head back on the couch. "I think I'm getting a migrane from all this reading. Why can't you just get a computer?" she looked at Giles. "Because computers-" Giles stopped mid-sentence as he turned the page in the book he was reading. He stared at the page in horror and shock. He said nothing. He looked sowly up at Cordelia. "Oh, yeah. I forgot. You hate computers for some British reason. What's that about?" Cordy said. "Cordelia. I think I found what we have been looking for," Giles said slowly and carefully. "Really?! Well, let's do the spell. What are the supplies? I'll go get them." Cordelia got up. "It's not a spell," he said quietly. "Well, then what is it?" Cordelia took the book out of his hands and read it. "Oh..." she said quietly. "You can't do this," Giles said. "If I have to die to get him back, I will." ********* Buffy, Angel, and Willow had called Xander and Anya before they left the room. They too were going to help with the research. All five of them were on their way to Giles'. "So, he just jumped into the light and pulled the cables?" Anya asked for the hundreth time. "Yeah," Angel said. "And he was a demon?" "Yeah." "And he saved you all?" "Yeah." "What self-respecting demon would do that? They're all for causing chaos, not preventing it." "He was a Bracken demon, Anya," Angel said. "So was he cursed like you?" Anya asked, ignoring her demon expertise. "No," Angel said. "it was just his species. They were all kind-hearted." "Have you met another one to back up that theory?" she asked. "Anya!-" Angel started, but stopped himself. "What? I'm just asking." "Nice girlfriend you have there, Xander," Angel said before he walked back into Giles' house. The first thing Angel saw was Cordelia sitting on the coffee table while Giles sat on the couch. Their knees were touching. They looked like they had some big secret. Cordelia looked at Angel. She slammed the book closed and sat it on the table beside her. "Hey, Angel," she said. Angel rushed to her side. "I know that look," he said. "I don't know what you're talking about." "I have been around you too long. You have the look of you're hiding something really important and you don't want to tell me." Cordelia didn't see a way out of telling him. "Giles found a way to get Doyle back," she said quietly. "Yet you're not overjoyed," he said. "I have to die." "What?! You can't!" Angel yelled. "And you're going to stop me?" Cordelia challenged him loudly as she got up from the table. "Yeah, because I'm going to do it," Angel said and reached for the book. "Angel..." Buffy stepped up. "No, you're not!" Cordy yelled. "You can't do it, either," Angel said. Tears filled Cordy's eyes. "You're not the one who was mean to Doyle! You're not the one that took his obvious crush on you for granted! You're not the one who judged him on his social class! And you're not the one who didn't know how much he meant to you until he was gone. You saw him for who he was. A hero. Sure, he was drunk most the time, but he had a kind soul. He gave up his life for us," Cordy collapsed into Angel's arms and sobbed. Angel comforted her for a minute. Then he said, "You can't die to bring him back. You still won't be with him." "I know. I just can't take the pain anymore." "I know, but this isn't the solution." "Then what is?" Xander stepped up. He had never seen Cordy like this. "We'll find something," he said. Cordy wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry you guys had to see me this way." "It's totally understandable," Buffy said. "Are you ok?" Angel asked Cordy. "Yeah. I'll be fine." "Ready for a par-tay?" Xander did a couple of crazy moves. "We can't," Willow said. "We have classes tomorrow." She motioned to Buffy. Buffy moved to the door. "We'll see you tomorrow." They walked out the door. "It'll be daylight soon," Angel said and followed them. "I'm still mad at you for forgetting our anniversary," Anya said and walked out. Giles had left the room to tend to Spike, still chained in the tub. "Cordy?" Xander asked. "I'm still tired from the car ride," she said. "I'll see ya tomorrow then," Xander said and walked home. "Bye." After Xander closed the door, Cordy walked back over to the table the book was laying on. She picked it up and flipped it to the page she was reading earlier. She heard Giles returning from the bathroom so she ran out the door with the book still in her hand. *********
