Cordelia Chase hurried to Angel's side, helping him up from where
he'd fallen when Doyle punched him, and the two of them looked up
in time to see a man in a bad shirt jump up on the platform where
the Beacon was housed.

"Doyle! Doyle, no!" cried Angel in horror, and Cordelia was
blinded by tears as she realized what was about to happen.

Angel watched, horror turning to amazement as the little man
unplugged the device, hopped down from the platform unharmed, and
strolled past him with a wink to the exit of the ship.

Cordelia felt a handkerchief pressed into her hand, and a very
familiar voice ask, "Will you go to dinner with me, Cordelia?"

Wiping her eyes, she saw a face she never thought she'd see
again, and threw her arms around his neck with fresh tears of
gratitude. "Yes, Doyle, I'll go to dinner with you."

Angel watched them with a little smile, then said softly,
"Thanks, Whistler."


The End


Author's Note: From what Joss has told us, Whistler is a
full-blooded demon, therefore theoretically should be able to
unplug the Beacon without harm to himself. Whistler is a neutral
demon, and in Joss' world would not involve himself in the battle
between good & evil, but it makes for a happier ending.
